ARDEN-ARCADE, CA — October 22, 2026
An officer-involved shooting in Sacramento County left a man hospitalized following a vehicle pursuit and confrontation with law enforcement officers.
According to the Sacramento County Sheriff’s Office, the incident began shortly before noon when a California Highway Patrol officer encountered a suspect. The situation developed into a vehicle pursuit involving CHP and Citrus Heights Police Department officers.
The pursuit ended along Fulton Avenue near Michelle Drive in Arden-Arcade, where authorities reported that the man exited his vehicle armed with a knife.
Officers repeatedly ordered the suspect to drop the weapon. According to investigators, less-lethal measures were deployed before two Citrus Heights police officers discharged their firearms.
The suspect was transported to a nearby hospital for treatment. No responding law enforcement officers were reported injured.
The Sacramento County Sheriff’s Office is investigating the circumstances surrounding the shooting, including the officers’ use of force.
2. OPERATION CENTRAL VALLEY BLUES RESULTS IN 146 ARRESTS AND MILLIONS IN DRUG SEIZURES
SACRAMENTO, CA — October 22, 2026
A major law enforcement operation targeting illegal drug sales and firearms trafficking across California’s Central Valley resulted in 146 arrests, according to federal and local authorities.
The operation, known as Operation Central Valley Blues, involved 38 federal, state, and local agencies across 14 counties, with support from Meta Platforms.
Investigators focused on individuals allegedly using social media and digital platforms to advertise and distribute illegal drugs, including fentanyl and methamphetamine.

Officials said the operation was designed to interrupt drug trafficking networks that contribute to overdoses, violence, and other public safety concerns throughout California communities.
3. TWO SUSPECTS ARRESTED IN THEFT OF HISTORIC SACRAMENTO HORSE STATUE
SACRAMENTO, CA — October 22, 2026
Two men have been arrested in connection with the theft of a historic bronze horse statue that stood along Del Paso Boulevard in North Sacramento for nearly two decades.
The Sacramento Police Department identified the suspects as Joshua Hughes, 28, and Aushajuan Hardy, 48.
The statue depicted Ben Ali, a racehorse that won the Kentucky Derby in 1886 and was associated with Sacramento’s historic Rancho Del Paso.
Investigators said the nearly seven-foot-tall bronze sculpture was stolen on September 30 from its location near Del Paso Boulevard and Winnipeg Street.
The statue, valued at approximately $80,000, was installed in 2007 and had become an important neighborhood landmark.
Following the theft, only a portion of a bronze hoof remained at the site.
Although two suspects have been arrested, police reported that the statue had not been recovered as of October 22.

4. WANTED MAN ARRESTED AFTER CRASHING INTO YUBA CITY CONVENIENCE STORE
YUBA CITY, CA — October 22, 2026
A Marysville man wanted in connection with several criminal investigations was arrested after allegedly crashing into a convenience store while attempting to evade law enforcement.
Authorities identified the suspect as Allen Houck, 31.
Investigators said Houck was wanted for several alleged offenses, including felony evading, burglary, and cases involving stolen firearms. He also had an outstanding felony arrest warrant.
Law enforcement agencies had reportedly been investigating Houck’s involvement in multiple incidents dating back to July 2026.
During an October 17 pursuit, authorities alleged that Houck drove at speeds exceeding 100 miles per hour before crashing near the Nicolaus Bridge. The vehicle caught fire, and the driver escaped into a nearby orchard.
On October 21, investigators located Houck at Mike’s Mini Mart near Franklin Road and South Walton Road in Yuba City.
As officers attempted to apprehend him, Houck allegedly rammed an unmarked law enforcement vehicle several times before crashing into the convenience store.
Authorities ultimately took Houck into custody and reported finding approximately 28 grams of methamphetamine in his possession.
He was booked into the Sutter County Jail on charges connected to the alleged incidents.
5. MURDER SUSPECT ARRESTED IN WOODLAND AFTER DOORDASH DRIVER FOUND DEAD IN TESLA
WOODLAND, CA — October 21–22, 2026
A three-month homicide investigation resulted in the arrest of a man accused of killing a California delivery driver whose body was discovered inside the trunk of a Tesla.
Authorities identified the suspect as Manuel Adrian Salceda, 39, of Turlock.
The victim, Javier Becerril Jr., 42, of Hollister, was discovered dead on July 9, 2026, inside a Tesla parked along Highway 152 in Merced County.
California Highway Patrol investigators determined that Becerril had been physically assaulted and shot before his body was placed inside the vehicle’s trunk.
Becerril worked as a DoorDash delivery driver and was remembered by fellow drivers in Hollister, where a memorial was established outside a Safeway grocery store.
According to investigators, Salceda allegedly used multiple identities while attempting to avoid capture.
Detectives eventually tracked his movements across several California counties and located him at a gas station near Interstate 5 in Woodland, where he was arrested without incident.
Salceda was charged with first-degree murder and being a felon in possession of a firearm.
Authorities said the case involved a personal connection between the suspect and victim. The investigation remains active as the criminal proceedings continue.
6. FOUR CORRECTIONAL OFFICERS INJURED IN VIOLENT ATTACK AT STOCKTON PRISON
STOCKTON, CA — October 15, 2026
Four correctional officers were injured during an attack involving an incarcerated man at the California Health Care Facility in Stockton, according to the California Department of Corrections and Rehabilitation.
The incident occurred on October 14 at approximately 9:36 p.m., when officers attempted to enter a restricted housing unit to conduct a wellness check on an unresponsive incarcerated person.
Authorities identified the individual involved as Joadanus Olivas, 39.
Investigators reported that Olivas allegedly attempted to leave his cell while armed with two improvised weapons.
Correctional officers were able to restrain him and return him to the cell, but all four officers sustained injuries during the confrontation.
The injured officers received treatment at an outside medical facility and were subsequently released.

7. 68-YEAR-OLD WOMAN KILLED BY STRAY BULLET WHILE SITTING ON BACK PORCH
GASTONIA, NC — October 19–22, 2026
A North Carolina family is mourning the loss of a 68-year-old woman who was fatally shot while sitting on the back porch of her home.
Authorities identified the victim as Pamala Shanks, 68, who was killed on October 19 in Gastonia, North Carolina.
According to police, the shooting occurred around 4:30 p.m. near a residence on Hillgate Avenue.
Investigators believe Shanks was struck by gunfire that was not intended for her.
Family members said she had been sitting outside when shots were fired in the surrounding neighborhood.
Police began investigating the circumstances surrounding the shooting, including whether the gunfire was connected to a dispute involving other individuals nearby.
Authorities said Shanks was not the intended target of the shooting.
As of the October 22 reports, investigators had not announced any arrests connected to her death.
The case has raised concerns about gun violence and the danger posed to innocent bystanders in residential communities.
8. 15-YEAR-OLD GIRL FATALLY SHOT INSIDE ARCADIA HOME; 20-YEAR-OLD SUSPECT IDENTIFIED
ARCADIA, CA — October 22–23, 2026
Authorities have identified a 15-year-old girl who was fatally shot inside a residence in Arcadia, California.
The Los Angeles County Medical Examiner’s Office identified the victim as Mina Kurdian, 15.
According to investigators, the shooting occurred on October 22 shortly after 11 a.m. at an apartment complex along West Huntington Drive.
Authorities identified the suspected shooter as Paul Anthony Cruz Jr., 20, who investigators said had been in a dating relationship with the teenage victim.
The Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department reported that Cruz allegedly forced his way into the residence before opening fire.
Responding officers discovered Kurdian suffering from gunshot wounds. She was pronounced dead at the scene.
Investigators said Cruz fled the area following the shooting.
Approximately one hour later, Pasadena police located him near South Arroyo Parkway, where authorities reported that he shot himself before officers could make contact.
Cruz was transported to a hospital and was reported to be in critical condition as of October 23.
The investigation remains ongoing as authorities examine the events leading up to the fatal shooting.
9. MISSING TEEN ALERT — AUTHORITIES SEEK INFORMATION ON JESSIRENA PINAESCOCIA, 16
LANCASTER, CA — Missing Since October 15, 2026
Authorities are seeking information regarding the whereabouts of Jessirena Pinaescocia, 16, who was reported missing from Lancaster, California.
According to the Los Angeles County Runaway and Abducted Foster Children database, Jessirena was last reported missing on October 15, 2026.

A Sacramento mother is speaking out after her son, Kaylub Giamanco, 36, was identified as the armed bystander who confronted and fatally shot a teenage gunman during a devastating school shooting at Silver Rail Elementary School in Bend, Oregon.
Giamanco, a father of two daughters who attend the elementary school, is being praised for his courageous actions during the October 15 tragedy that claimed the lives of four people, including three young children and a teacher.
His mother, Kenda Freeman, has spoken publicly about her son’s actions and the emotional toll the tragedy has taken on their family.
A Father’s Quick Response During a Deadly Attack
According to investigators, the shooting began shortly before 1 p.m. Thursday when a 16-year-old former student, identified as Griffin J. John II, arrived at Silver Rail Elementary School armed with a shotgun.

A Sacramento family’s search for answers has ended in tragedy after authorities confirmed that human remains discovered in El Dorado County belonged to Jasmine Gill, 30, a woman who had been reported missing earlier this month.
The Sacramento County Sheriff’s Office announced Friday, October 16, that Jasmine’s husband, Gurinder Singh Gill, 28, had been arrested and charged with murder in connection with her death.
DISAPPEARANCE AND INVESTIGATION
According to investigators, Jasmine was last seen at her Sacramento residence on September 30, 2026. Her cousin reported her missing on October 4 after concerns arose about her whereabouts.
During the initial missing-person investigation, Gurinder Gill told detectives that agents with U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) had taken his wife into custody while she was checking the mail outside their residence.
However, investigators contacted ICE to verify his account. Federal officials confirmed that no immigration enforcement activity had taken place at the couple’s residence.
As detectives continued examining Jasmine’s disappearance, they reportedly discovered additional inconsistencies in her husband’s statements.

Authorities identified the suspect as Dustin Garst.

Garst allegedly refused to stop and continued northbound, eventually leading officers and the California Highway Patrol through multiple jurisdictions.
Authorities used spike strips to slow the vehicle, bringing the pursuit to an end in Chico.
Following the arrest, officers reportedly recovered approximately one-quarter ounce of suspected fentanyl.
Police also determined that Garst had an outstanding felony warrant from Shasta County and was on searchable probation.
He was transported to Yolo County and booked into jail on allegations involving felony evading, narcotics possession, and outstanding warrants.

According to Atlanta police, the deadly collision occurred near Hank Aaron Drive and Glenn Street on Tuesday, October 13.
